The Ebony Forest Chamarel, located in the South West of Mauritius, is home to many animals such as fruit bats, swiftlets and tropicbirds which you can find along the mountains. You will have the opportunity to catch the sight of endemic birds such as Mauritius Paradise Fly Catcher, Mauritian Black Bulbul and grey-white eyes.

Ebony Forest also has an impressive viewpoint, The Sublime Point, which will give you the opportunity to have a breathtaking view of Le Morne and the crystal clear waters surrounding the island. The viewpoint is accessible either through the Ridgeline Trail or you can also take a jeep to reach it (depending on the availability).

The Ebony Forest Chamarel offers several tours ranging from the Classic Tour to Private Tours where visitors will surely get something to their liking. Ebony Forest is also home to the museum, Ebony Experience, and visitors will get the chance to treat themselves to a self-guided tour of the museum. They also offer a jeep that can accommodate a maximum of 9 persons and help visitors to get across the park but always encourage walking as visitors get to enjoy the lush greenery of the park in that way.

For a quick stop for lunch, it is sure that you will leave the Takamaka Restaurant with a full belly and a happy heart. They offer homemade pizzas, cooked on their wood-fired oven and also a selection of curry and salads. You will also not encounter any straws here to go along with their mission of sustainability. For those in need of some retail therapy, rest assured as Ebony Forest also has a shop where you can get gifts and souvenirs for all ages.

Ebony Forest Chamarel, despite being a beautiful park with breathtaking sights and endemic animals, do encourage visitors to donate and contribute to the park in order for them to continue the mission of conserving the Mauritian Wildlife.
